This course aims to examine the historical origins and potential future scenarios of six global dynamics shaping our world. The six main dynamics to be examined are:
Demographic Change: Past and Future Trends,
Poverty and Inequality: Origins and Consequences,
Digitalization and Disruptive Technologies,
Global Warming and Climate Change,
Globalization and Polarization (or Deglobalization),
Migration and Global Mobility Regimes: Are Borders Disappearing or Strengthening?
The course examines the historical development of the dynamics it addresses, while also drawing on fundamental theoretical frameworks from political science and economics. It aims to equip students with the ability to understand and analyze these complex issues using the correct concepts.
