Our course will consist of three parts. In the first part, we will try to understand what industrial engineering is. For this purpose, we will talk about the essential skills that an industrial engineer should have, the courses to be taken at the university, job opportunities, and relationships with other disciplines such as computer engineering and business administration. The second part of the course will focus on the common ground of various industrial engineering approaches, which is "decision analysis". In this context, we will work on the concepts of modeling and solving decision problems, uncertainty modeling, risk analysis, simulation, and multi-criteria decision-making as part of "rational decision-making". Additionally, we will conduct applications to understand the intuitions that affect human decision-making and to comprehend the deviations they cause in making decisions. In the final part of the course, examples will be presented on the problems that industrial engineers are interested in in their professional lives (such as demand forecasting, production planning, vehicle routing) and their solution methods.
